I had the pleasure of photographing the Copeland family again after capturing them last fall, and as always with repeat clients, it was so fun to see how much their sweet daughter had grown.

Here they are in October of 2017:

And here they are now:

Europe, Spring 2018: Rome, Berlin, Paris Isaac and I went on a babymoon to three incredible European cities this past April. We enjoyed the food, the people, the sights, and of course, the photography. The weather was mostly fair, with one day of rain in Rome--on the day we visited the Vatican. For those interested, we used the Canon f/2.8 24-70 mm lens to take all those selfies.

Jet-lagged and excited... Day one in Roma!

At no point was I mistaken for an Italian pop-star. Loved Roma, hated the fact that "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" was such a lie.

Runners of the Rome Marathon; lots of Italian cheers could be heard.

If you're not eating gelato at least 3x per day, were you really in Roma?

20 weeks with my Baby Girl.

The Pantheon, inside and out. St. Peter's Basilica

Onto Berlin!

On the roof of the Reichstag... Chancellor Merkel was nowhere to be found.

Great long exposure of the TV Tower, courtesy of Isaac. Then onto Paris!

Straight from our hotel to Esplanade des Invalides... a must at golden hour!

Since studying abroad in Paris, it has always had my heart. "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young [woman], then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast." -Hemingway

Au revoir, Paris. Vous avez mon coeur.

Cosette & Brian's Engagement I have few words for how humbling it was to spend the evening with these fine folks in such a breathtaking place. Cosette and I went to UCLA together and were both in Gamma Phi Beta. I actually talked to her during rush, and she convinced me to go GPhi! As fate would have it, we both moved to Durham, NC at the same time, and now I get to take photos of Cosette and her love, Brian, for their engagement and marriage. Merry Hill Farm, where we shot these and where they're tying the knot, is an incredible 100+ year old farm in Mebane, NC. The white farmhouse, the horses, the stables complete with chandeliers... it was essentially a country music video. I have the honor of shooting some incredible brides, and Cosette is one of the greats. Best wishes to you both in this wedding planning season!

Bee Hoppy Farms I was delighted to visit a century-old family farm last month to take photos of Tiffany, an impressive business owner who is revitalizing a part of the land by growing hops (yes, as in beer). The farm, the entrepreneur, the greenery, the sunset... it was all so picturesque. I'm honored to be a part of promoting local business, and especially the continued use of a beloved family farm. Tiffany was kind enough to share a few words about Bee Hoppy Farms:

Bee Hoppy Farms comes from the desire to grow locally sourced hops in support of the booming NC micro brewery industry.  NC is a state full of great soil, and good rain fall, so it makes sense that if we can grow a hop that brewers love we should invest the time and effort to bring the flavor profile our soil can impart to the community.

Bee Hoppy farms plans to continue researching and working with local universities test and find the hops that best grow in our climate and provide a unique flavor that brewers want to use.

James Stephens Eick We had the pleasure of joining the Eick family this week and capturing those first sweet days with their second little boy, James Stephens Eick! Big bro Henry was over the moon and would not stop asking about "Baby James" whenever they were in separate rooms. Thank you for inviting us into this season of life, Eick family! We hope these photos will last a lifetime.

Charleston We had the privilege of vacationing in Charleston, SC a few weeks back, and my was it a glorious week. These Californians could barely keep up with the all the Southern history and culture. I had to conceal my bohemian sense of fashion and embrace the pastels, floral prints, and straw hats. But it was stunning. As a photographer, the eclectic buildings and fauna made for incredible photos. The dogs also had fun joining us - although folks were pretty shocked to see a husky in the humid climate.

Zack + Melissa: Downtown Durham Wedding My apprentice, Celeste, and I had the honor of being a part of Zack & Melissa's big day at Belt Line Station in downtown Durham last month. It was such fun to explore one of my favorite cities for this wedding - they even did their first look at the ballpark! We were there during batting practice, so the best man had the honor of watching for fly balls and ensuring all of us got the ceremony without a concussion. The ceremony itself held even deeper meaning since Melissa's father just had a double lung transplant and, as a result, was able to walk her down the aisle. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. The night was worshipful, with God's love shown at every turn. It was an unforgettable day!

Stranger Wings: Birds of London During my recent trip to England and France, I embarked upon an impromptu (and admittedly odd) mission to capture some of the interesting-looking birds around the parks in London. Perhaps it's because they're so different from the species we have here in North Carolina, perhaps it's because I love ducks of all sorts - either way, I had a blast capturing these guys in the gorgeous city where they live, rent-free.

Romano Maternity This sweet couple received a gift shoot for Christmas for newborn photography... and booked a maternity shoot too! I feel so lucky to be a part of their journey to parenthood. Bruin, their pup, made this shoot even more fun. Even though he's named after the Boston Bruins, not the UCLA Bruins, we still developed a connection. I love when furry family members are included. Lindsey & Anthony, I can't wait to meet your little one!

Family Holiday Shoots 2016 I had the pleasure of capturing so many lovely families of all sizes and looks this Christmas season. I have loved every minute, and especially enjoyed getting to know all of you! Cheers to lots of laughter and one goofy photographer going to great lengths to get kiddos to laugh and smile. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Durham Newborn Shoot at Home This beautiful family moved from New York City to Durham just in time for their first baby to come into the world. We had a great time at their apartment taking some infant and family photos. Their little boy was awake the whole time (a rare occurrence during newborn shoots!), so we captured some sweet shots of his deep blue eyes.

Taylor Family Fall 2016 What a joy it was to take this sweet family's photos last weekend. These sisters care so well for their little brother and each other. Of course, the promise of donuts helped with some of those smiles!
